Freehand Drawing (Pencil Tool)

Overview
Users can sketch arbitrary areas on the map using the Pencil tool—via mouse on PC/Mac, touch on notebooks, or finger gestures on tablets. The drawn borders are automatically smoothed by an algorithm for cleaner shapes.
Entity
A freehand-drawn area is defined by:

Filled Polygon
The closed shape traced by the user

Area Measurement
Total surface area of the polygon, calculated in the chosen unit (sq.m or sq.ft)

Perimeter
Length of the border, computed in meters or feet

Geographical Context
Optional snapping to administrative boundaries or point-of-interest layers
